What is Chiropractic care?

Chiropractic is a science, art and philosophy that respects the human body's own innate ability to heal.   Chiropractors like Dr. Roca believe that the structure of the human body is directly related to its function. Bad posture, subluxations and other distortions of the human frame distort the functions of the human body.  A crooked spine cannot work as efficiently or as effectively as a straight spine. Chiropractic care is the correction of spinal subluxations and improvement of the human frame with corrective adjustments.

What is a Subluxation?

A bone or joint in the body that is not aligned properly and interferes with the normal function of the body is a Subluxation. Chiropractors can vary on how to best correct a subluxation but the identification and removal of a subluxation is common to all Chiropractic adjustments.

What is an Adjustment?

The adjustment is the manner in which the Chiropractor corrects or removes the subluxation. This is where the most diversity can be found among Chiropractors.  There are many different techniques that can be used but all have the same goal of correcting the subluxation. At IN8 Family Chiropractic Dr. Roca uses range of Chiropractic techniques to serve as many different people as possible from the expecting mother and newborn baby to the greatest of Great Grandmothers and everyone in between. Dr. Roca utilizes the traditional 100+ year old chiropractic techniques as well as new technology that allows him to correct the subluxation using very little force to move the bone or even techniques that use no force at all.

Is Chiropractic right for me?

Chiropractic is a safe and effective alternate approach to healthcare. It is true that Chiropractic care is not for everyone in every situation but if you have been to the medical doctor and not getting the results you desire try Chiropractic. It should be safer than any medicine the MD can prescribe without any of the potential side effects. If you do not like the idea of taking medicines or would like to try and avoid surgery try Chiropractic.  The doctor of Chiropractic above all else will not cause you any harm. If you are one of the very few people that cannot get adjusted or benefit from a Chiropractic adjustment they will not adjust you and make sure you get to the proper doctor to get the care you need.

Do kids get adjusted?

Absolutely! Dr. Roca has helped newborn babies after traumatic birth process recover, colicky babies, babies that feed only on one side, or learning to walk and fall down stairs. We have seen little guys after they face plant riding their first skateboard, after going over the handlebars for the first time, or when big brother tackles little sister teaching her to play football. One word, Trampolines.
Kids are tough and they do not need to get adjusted very often. Dr. Roca's approach is very simple, "If they ain't broke, don't try to fix them." That doesn't mean they never get adjusted. A child should never limp, they should never have back pain or experience unexplained pain. Children with these symptoms should all get checked by their Chiropractor.
Here are something to look for that would indicate your kid needs an adjustment.
Babies that only feed on one side or don't like to turn their head in one or both directions or never seem totally comfortable.
Toddles that limp, have sensitive spots that hurt when touched or they hold and rub their their back often.
Preschool age and beyond; these kids should not have back pain. If they complain that their back hurts it is worth finding out why. Same with limping. If they fall and smack their knee sure they might limp for a day or two but an unexplained or a persistent limp, painful or not, should be investigated further. Headaches can occur in kids just like adults but if you notice them being frequent or sever, find out why.

What Chiropractic techniques do you use at IN8?
